Frequently Asked Questions

Does CombineCodes upload my code to the cloud?

No. All file scanning, aggregation, and export happens locally on your Mac. The App makes no network requests and requires no internet connection.

How many folders can I combine at once?

You can aggregate up to ten separate directories in a single combine session. Each directory can contain any number of files.

What file types does the App support?

CombineCodes processes text-based source files. It respects your .gitignore rules and automatically skips binary files, build artifacts, and generated content.

Does the App modify my source files?

No. The App only reads your files to generate the context export. Your source code is never modified, moved, or deleted.

What export formats are available?

The App produces markdown or plain text context files that preserve file paths and structural organization. These formats work with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, and other LLM tools.

How do preflight metrics work?

Before exporting, the App shows file counts, estimated token sizes, and composition details. This lets you review and adjust what enters the final context file before using it with any LLM.

Can I use the App without an internet connection?

Yes. CombineCodes works entirely offline. No internet connection is needed for any functionality.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?
